Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) are the backbone of climate resilience in frontline communities. Deep community ties allow CBOs to develop and tailor extreme heat solutions to fit local needs.
In December 2025, the CATCH team looked at a sample of 42 CBOs working on extreme heat in Boston, Phoenix, and New Orleans to understand local activities and priorities. The team first identified which CBOs work on extreme heat, whether directly or indirectly, then sorted CBO activities by type.
* In the graph below, "activity type" refers to community initiatives or projects that CBOs advocate for, inform, promote, or implement.
Note: This is a snapshot of CBO activities based on a sample of 42 organizations. CBO activities and priorities vary widely, change frequently, and may not be available to the public. Some CBO activities are overlapping and therefore have multiple tags.
